Antiozonant wax (protective wax)
Antiozonant waxes migrate to the surface and form a thin film that keeps ozone away from the rubber under static conditions. Which wax to choose depends on the part's service temperature range: the ratio of paraffinic to microcrystalline fractions determines at what temperature the film forms. In dynamically loaded parts wax alone is not enough; it is combined with a PPD antiozonant.
Quick selection guide
- Antilux 111: broad temperature range, tyre sidewalls and profiles
- Antilux 654: microcrystalline-rich, outdoor technical goods
- Typical dosage 1–3 phr; overdosing causes bloom and tack problems
- With 6PPD / 77PD: static + dynamic ozone protection
